Clear fees, and help to fund therapy
We list our fees openly so you know what to expect. Many families use the NDIS, Medicare or private health insurance to help with costs.
At Wonderful Mind, a one-hour psychology session is $252.99 and a clinical psychology session is $290.00, with Medicare rebates of $101.55 and $149.05 respectively when you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan. Art, play and music therapy sessions are $193.99. We are a registered NDIS provider for all plan types and accept WorkCover and TAC. A 48-hour cancellation policy applies.

Your first parent consultation is billed as 1.5 hours. Fees are per session and may vary by clinician and service.

Psychology assessment fees
Assessments are quoted at intake: allocated clinical hours × your clinician’s hourly rate. Most take 8 to 25 clinical hours depending on the type. See assessment types and hours.
Funding
Ways to fund therapy
Medicare
Rebates for psychology and clinical psychology with a Mental Health Treatment Plan, for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.
Private health
Some funds offer rebates for art, play and music therapy, OT and speech pathology. Check your extras cover.
WorkCover & TAC
Our psychologists support WorkCover and TAC claims after workplace or transport accidents.
Policy
Cancellation policy
To keep regular appointment times, we need 48 hours’ notice to reschedule or cancel without a fee. If less notice is given, or an appointment is missed, the full fee may be charged unless there are extenuating circumstances. Medicare does not cover cancelled appointments.
A late cancellation affects your child’s progress, families waiting to start therapy, and the clinician who prepared for your session.
Fee questions
How do Medicare rebates work?
With a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician, you can claim a rebate for up to 10 psychology sessions per calendar year under Better Access. Rebates apply to psychologists and clinical psychologists.
Do you work with all types of NDIS plans?
Yes. We are a registered NDIS provider and work with self-managed, plan-managed and NDIA-managed participants.
Do you accept WorkCover and TAC?
Yes. Our psychologists are registered with WorkCover and TAC.
How are assessment fees calculated?
Assessment fees are the allocated clinical hours multiplied by the clinician’s hourly rate. We give you a fixed-fee quote at intake. Clients under 25 with conditions such as autism may be eligible for Medicare rebates for assessment.
What if I cannot afford therapy?
No one should go without support because of cost, and reaching out takes courage. Please call our team on (03) 8104 9051. We will listen with understanding and discretion, and talk through the options available to you. Through our partnerships with La Trobe University and the University of Melbourne, we can also offer low-cost sessions with students completing their clinical placements, under the supervision of our experienced clinicians.
