Michael Thermos He/his
Michael is a provisional psychologist currently completing a Master of Clinical Psychology, following the completion of his Bachelor of Psychology (Honours). His professional journey has spanned research, community, and disability settings, as well as individual therapy. He also brings valuable experience from acute and crisis-informed environments, group-based interventions, and comprehensive psychological assessment.
Michael is particularly interested in working with children and adolescents. He focuses on how early experiences, attachments, relationships, and environments shape emotional development, identity, and behavior over time. Alongside his therapeutic work, Michael has extensive experience with intellectual and academic assessments, including the WISC, WIAT, WAIS, and WPPSI, helping clients and families gain clarity on their unique cognitive profiles.
Approach to therapy
His approach is grounded in curiosity and a focus on patterns, examining the intricate ways that thoughts, emotions, and behaviors connect. Michael is dedicated to helping people build clearer, more meaningful narratives around their experiences, rather than reducing them to mere diagnoses or symptoms. In practice, he draws from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Schema Therapy.
Above all, Michael values a reflective and collaborative way of working that allows space to explore the deeper processes shaping a person’s inner world. He aims to work with humility and respect, seeing each person as more than their challenges and creating a space where clients feel genuinely heard, understood, and supported in a way that feels meaningful and human.
