Maki Levine (she/her)

Maki, a registered art therapist with ANZACATA. She is described by those closest to her as warm, considerate, and deeply passionate. She naturally cultivates open, safe environments where individuals feel empowered to share their stories. At the heart of her practice is a belief that creativity can bridge the gap between what is felt and what can be said.

Therapeutic Framework

Her practice is anchored in a person-centred, trauma-responsive, and strength-based framework. Maki prioritises safety and duty of care above all else, providing a unique space where:

Clients lead the process: Whether seeking structure or fluid exploration, clients find both verbal and non-verbal pathways to insight.

Silence is transformative: Maki creates an environment where silence is experienced as both containing and freeing.

Authenticity thrives: Clients are supported in discovering their innate talents and authentic selves through the creative process.
Maki primarily works with children and youth navigating the complexities of trauma.

Ranging from the impacts of bullying to the profound grief of losing a family member. She understands that every child adjusts differently; some may over-perform while others withdraw. Rather than relying solely on diagnostic labels, Maki seeks to understand the children's emotions and their world, helping them to identify their triggers and to provide them with a venue to explore and communicate where they feel secure and where they feel scared.

Maki's practice is trauma informed and culturally sensitive. She has a naturally calm demeanour, and excels at building rapport and encouraging responsive rather than reactive emotional expression.

Through various art mediums, she guides her clients as they explore identity, soothe the voice; and transform chaotic emotions into constructive self-care.

Maki is dedicated to helping youth widen their imaginations and uncover clever, resilient aspects of themselves. She is thrilled to be bringing her dream of impacting youth mental wellbeing to fruition at Wonderful Minds.
